Following the Government’s announcement on Sunday to ease the “lockdown” in England we have taken the decision to increase our client services from Monday 18th May 2020 and return to our usual opening hours of 8.30am to 6.30pm. We will now be able to offer routine small animal operations (Neutering and Dentals) and an increased equine service (Stud work, Pre-purchase examinations, Lameness evaluations and Dentals). However, we will still be operating a ”closed” door policy to the practice and each vet will be using their own team “buddy” as an animal handling assistant so that social distancing can be maintained between you (the client) and our staff. All patients will be admitted / discharged from a safe 2m distance in the carpark and payments should still be made over the phone by card or online by BACS.
It is clear that if we do not expand our services the long term health and welfare of our patients will suffer, but we must only provide a service that continues to protect you the client and ourselves at the same time as looking after your animals. Our priority as a business is to protect the health and welfare of our staff and that is from the everyday risks that dealing with unpredictable animals presents as well as Covid-19. It is therefore essential that any involved, lengthy, or potentially hazardous equine or farm animal procedure is carried out at the practice and not at your own premises. A full risk assessment will be carried out by the receptionist and/or responsible vet prior to their attendance at your property and all biosecurity requests must be adhered to for visits for non-emergency procedures to be continued.
Our remote telephone consultation system has been working incredibly well and this will continue to be available every day, medicines remotely prescribed and then collected from the surgery or posted to you as requested. Please continue to use our email address for non-urgent enquiries and prescription requests as these are looked at by staff working remotely and free up a lot of phone time for the staff in the surgery. Don’t forget to tell us if you are self-isolating or shielding and we will organise appropriate protective measures for us all. In line with government guidance we will still be operating in our two team approach (clinically week on week off working) and so this does still mean that you may not be able to get your favourite vet at a certain time. We apologise for this but are all around remotely if not in person if you need to contact us.
The most important announcement of all though is the winners of our Easter limerick competition! Congratulations to everyone who entered, and the winners will be receiving something in the post shortly. Georgie will be posting some of these limericks on Facebook over the next few weeks with our favourite Covid19 case photos. All of them are going to be made into a Scrapbook for the waiting room for you to read when we finally open again.
